An Additive Stream

  • Abstract

An Additive Stream is the second of a series of works devoted to acoustic instruments + specific waveforms. The piece is based upon the physical phenomena of "beatings", a periodic variation in the air pressure due to interference of close frequencies. The acoustic part develops under a theoretical construction of required frequencies calculated according to the open strings of each instrument. Since in practice such levels of precision for acoustic instruments is impossible, the electronic part reinforces the phenomena by doing a real time analysis of the instrument's pitches and converting them into wavetables with up to 32 harmonics. The visual part functions as a tridimensional oscilloscope of the signal of this wavetables.
